Employee Relations Advisor (6-month contract)
Heredia, Costa Rica
Objective
Serve as a trusted advisor to people managers across the United States, providing guidance on low-performance cases and supporting fair, compliant employee separation processes. This role manages a high volume of Employee Relations cases across multiple jurisdictions, requiring strong knowledge of US employment law, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to navigate complex situations in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the position supports cross-border travel coordination and documentation management for employees across the US & Canada (USC) and LATAM regions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Performance Management & Case Coaching (US Focus)
● Manager Advisory: Act as the primary point of contact and coach for US-based people managers handling low-performance cases, guiding them through corrective actions, and fair separation processes.
● High-Volume Execution: Manage a high volume of active cases across multiple US states, maintaining strict organizational standards, speed, and data confidentiality.
● Thriving in Ambiguity: Proactively identify solutions for challenging personnel scenarios and adapt strategies to evolving compliance and business dynamics.
2. Cross-Functional Partnership & Offboarding Coordination
● Stakeholder Alignment: Partner seamlessly across a matrixed environment with internal Legal, Employee Relations (ER), and HR Business Partner (HRBP) teams to ensure risk mitigation and alignment on case strategies.
● Payroll Collaboration: Interface closely with the Payroll team to facilitate final payouts and ensure severance timelines and state-specific termination compliance requirements (such as final pay timing laws) are aligned.
● People Operations Integration: Partner with the People Operations team to ensure offboarding procedures, separation agreements, and system exits are executed smoothly and efficiently.
3. Cross-Border Travel & Accommodation Logistics (USC & LATAM)
● Travel & Accommodation Support: Coordinate localized and cross-border travel arrangements related to employee status, medical accommodations, or specific case needs across USC and LATAM.
● Documentation Management: Collect and organize necessary travel and compliance documentation from employees, working with external regional partners for validation as relevant.
● End-to-End Communication: Act as the central liaison, managing communications between the employee, external validation vendors, and the internal Corporate Travel team.
Key Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in Employee Relations, HR Advisory, HR Business Partner, or HR Generalist roles within multinational or fast-paced organizations.

Strong knowledge of US employment law, including federal and state labor regulations, progressive discipline practices, and termination processes.

Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).

Experience managing high-volume Employee Relations or performance management cases.

Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with sound judgment when handling sensitive employee matters.
