Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role

We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead and coordinate industrial maintenance activities within a manufacturing operation. This position will oversee a team of maintenance technicians and ensure the effective execution of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs, as well as continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate combines strong leadership and administrative skills with a hands-on, operational mindset. They must be willing to work directly on the plant floor to solve problems, address priorities, and ensure operational continuity.

The primary objective of this role is to maximize equipment reliability, optimize resources, ensure compliance with safety standards, and contribute to the overall productivity and efficiency of the operation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance Planning and Execution

Lead and supervise preventive, corrective, predictive, and improvement maintenance activities across industrial equipment and facilities.
Coordinate the maintenance team to ensure compliance with maintenance plans, work orders, and quality standards.
Monitor maintenance activities, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.
Ensure proper equipment startup and performance validation following maintenance interventions.
Coordinate scheduled shutdowns, additional resources, and operational requirements to ensure efficient maintenance execution.
Actively participate in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that may affect production continuity.

2. Equipment Reliability and Continuous Improvement

Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), operational trends, and recurring failures to identify improvement opportunities.
Implement corrective actions and reliability strategies to improve equipment availability and performance.
Optimize maintenance plans based on asset criticality and operational requirements.
Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, work instructions, technical documentation, and operational standards.
Drive initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance costs.
Monitor maintenance results to ensure the effectiveness of implemented actions.

3. Resource, Spare Parts, and Cost Management

Manage materials, spare parts, and resources required for maintenance activities.
Coordinate with warehouse, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure the availability of materials and services.
Identify opportunities to optimize inventory levels and improve critical spare parts management.
Prepare technical specifications and documentation for the procurement of materials and services.
Coordinate emergency purchases when required to support operational needs.
Ensure the availability of personnel, contractors, and spare parts to facilitate effective maintenance execution.
Identify opportunities for budget optimization and maintenance cost control.

4. Health, Safety, Environmental, and Energy Management

Ensure maintenance activities comply with established safety procedures, environmental requirements, and applicable regulations.
Oversee compliance with work permits, risk assessments, and applicable safety controls.
Promote risk identification and prevention, including the timely reporting of unsafe conditions.
Ensure maintenance personnel and contractors follow established procedures and safety standards.
Support sustainability initiatives, responsible resource consumption, and energy efficiency.
Promote practices that contribute to a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation.

5. Leadership and Team Development

Lead, supervise, and develop the maintenance technician team, promoting performance, accountability, and technical growth.
Coordinate and monitor the work of operational teams, ensuring effective task allocation and prioritization.
Foster a culture of collaboration, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and results-oriented performance.
Coordinate activities with Production, Engineering, Planning, Procurement, and Health and Safety teams.
Resolve operational issues efficiently and maintain effective communication with relevant stakeholders.
Monitor departmental objectives, performance indicators, and operational commitments.

Candidate Profile

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
A licentiate degree or additional university-level qualification is considered an advantage but is not mandatory.

Professional Experience

Three to five years of experience in maintenance supervision or similar roles within industrial operations.
Proven experience leading technical maintenance teams.
Experience in industrial manufacturing, heavy manufacturing, or industries involving complex machinery and operational processes.
Experience managing preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment failures, and coordinating maintenance projects.
Experience monitoring management indicators and operational performance metrics.

Technical Knowledge

Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs).
Knowledge of maintenance planning and work order management.
Knowledge of spare parts management, inventory control, and maintenance cost management.
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); experience with SAP PM is an advantage.
Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken.

Additional Requirements

Availability to work on-site at the manufacturing facility.
Flexibility to respond to operational emergencies or equipment failures outside regular working hours, according to business needs.
Ability to work effectively in dynamic, fast-paced, and demanding operational environments.
