THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Research Associate to work directly with the firm’s Senior Analyst & Managing Director in San José, Costa Rica.

This is a high-access, high-proximity position that provides direct exposure to global equity investment research at an institutional level. The successful candidate will work closely with a senior investor who helps manage significant positions within a global equity portfolio, gaining hands-on exposure to a rigorous fundamental investment process from the ground up.

Over time, the role is expected to evolve into a position with genuine responsibility for fundamental investment research and contribution to investment thesis development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with the investment team to maintain and operate the firm’s proprietary multi-factor screening infrastructure and database, Bloomberg-linked and updated monthly across 1,400+ global stocks.
• Build and maintain financial models, valuation analyses, and earnings trackers for a defined set of global equity holdings.
• Analyze and synthesize earnings call transcripts, management communications, company filings, and research publications into structured investment summaries.
• Support the preparation of investor-facing materials, including data exhibits, company case studies, and due diligence responses.
• Conduct company and industry research to support ongoing investment analysis.
• Over time, contribute to the development and refinement of investment theses and participate in the weekly investment research call.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Bachelor’s degree / Licenciatura in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. A strong academic background in a quantitative or finance-related discipline is preferred.
• 2–4 years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, corporate finance, equity research, asset management, or another rigorous analytical role within financial services.
• Strong financial modelling skills, including DCF, comparable company analysis, valuation, and earnings model construction.
• Professional-level English fluency, both written and verbal. All investment research and deliverables are produced in English.
• Genuine interest in public equity markets, global companies, valuation, and fundamental investment analysis.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements and translate complex information into clear investment insights.
• Intellectual curiosity, humility, and a strong willingness to learn and develop within a rigorous investment environment.
• CFA progress is preferred but not required.
• Self-directed, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently and manage well-defined tasks with limited supervision.
• Advanced Excel skills are required.
• Bloomberg proficiency or experience with equivalent platforms such as FactSet or Capital IQ is a plus.
• Knowledge of Python or other data/analytical tools is a plus.
• Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce concise, high-quality analytical work.
