General Accountant

Objective

Execute accounting and financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with local regulations and corporate standards. Support financial operations, audits, and internal controls while contributing to continuous improvements in accounting processes and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute daily accounting activities, including Accounts Payable, General Ledger, CapEx, revenue recognition, and tax-related processes.
• Support the month-end and year-end close by preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax filings, including Payroll, VAT, and Corporate Income Tax, in compliance with local regulations.
• Apply and follow established accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Assist in internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and supporting audit requests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate recording and classification of financial transactions.
• Track and report key financial metrics and support ad hoc reporting needs.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and support implementation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with internal stakeholders regarding financial information and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting and finance roles.
• Experience in the logistics or supply chain industry is preferred.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP (preferred).
• Strong understanding of local tax regulations and statutory compliance in Guatemala.
• Advanced English level (B2+ or higher).
