Senior ABAP Engineer

As part of the SAP Development Team, the candidate will be expected to create SAP ABAP solutions to support our Finance, HR, Merchandising and Supply chain business functions. You should be prepared to work on technical solutions in a high-impact dynamic environment, using industry recommended development methodologies, standards, patterns, and best-practices.

Key Responsibilities 

Collaborate with business analysts, functional consultants, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Develop and maintain ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms in various SAP environments (ECC, S/4HANA Public cloud)
Work with cross-functional teams to outline detailed technical design and specification documents, to meet business needs, considering capabilities, risks, system dependencies, and non-functional requirements around performance, monitoring, and alerting.
Optimize ABAP programs for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Participate in project planning and estimation, ensuring the timely delivery of technical solutions.
Conduct unit and integration testing to ensure the accuracy and functionality of SAP solutions.
Work in an Agile/Scrum environment, delivering solutions in iterative cycles.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the development in a timely and efficient manner.
Keep abreast of emerging technology trends/latest ABAP tools in SAP, advocating for the adoption of innovations that can benefit

Qualifications & Skills 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, any related field or equivalent work experience
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in ABAP development, with a strong focus on full-cycle SAP implementations.
Strong proficiency in ABAP programming language and SAP development tools (SE80, SE11, SEGW etc.)
Strong background in Object Oriented concepts.
Deep understanding of SAP OData services (creation, consumption, and performance tuning).
Experience building ODATA APIs and integrating with other applications.
Strong knowledge of SAP Gateway and OData protocol (CRUD operations, metadata, error handling).
In-depth knowledge of SAP modules (SD, MM, FI, CO, etc.) and their integration points.
Experience with RFCs, BAPIs, ALE/IDocs, and other SAP integration methods.
Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of ABAP programs.
Experience with SAP HANA database and ABAP on HANA (AMDP, CDS views, etc.)
Experience with SAP CPI is a plus.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of modern development methodologies (Agile/Scrum).
Knowledge on S/4 HANA Public cloud is a plus.
Knowledge on SAP BTP and any experience on working on any services will be a huge plus.
Experience with Vendor Invoice Management (Open Text) is a plus
