Global Trade Compliance Analyst
San José, Costa Rica
Job Purpose
The Global Trade Compliance Analyst supports international trade compliance operations by ensuring adherence to customs regulations, with a strong focus on Importer Security Filings (ISF). The role involves managing compliance processes, reporting, documentation, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maintain efficient and compliant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Operations
- Manage Importer Security Filings (ISF) and monitor U.S. Customs responses to ensure filings are successfully accepted.
- Identify and communicate EDI errors, missing/incorrect HTS codes, or incomplete data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Respond to email inquiries and resolve tactical issues related to security filings and compliance.
- Support implementation of new regulatory initiatives and requirements.
- Stay up to date with regulatory changes and communicate impacts across the organization.
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Maintain and update SOPs, process guides, and training materials (ISF handbook, FAQs, onboarding guides).
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within import/export compliance operations.
- Collaborate with team members to implement process enhancements.
- Manage and analyze compliance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Projects & Analysis
- Support compliance-related projects through business analysis and reporting.
- Research and compile country-specific trade compliance requirements.
- Assist in audit preparation and participation.
- Contribute to initiatives related to:
- Global security filings
- Denied Party Screening
- Regulatory compliance programs
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Finance, IT, and Legal teams to ensure alignment on compliance initiatives.
- Support the delivery of compliance training to employees as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance processes are executed effectively.
Systems & Issue Management
- Support the implementation and maintenance of compliance systems and tools.
- Assist in managing compliance incidents, including investigation and corrective actions.
- Maintain the Global Trade Compliance content database (intranet).
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend compliance training sessions and webinars for continuous development.
- Perform other compliance-related duties as assigned.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
- Ensure all ISF filings are processed accurately and in an accepted status.
- Provide timely resolution to compliance-related inquiries and issues.
- Deliver accurate reporting, metrics, and analysis for compliance performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across trade compliance processes.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Contribute to team performance through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or trade compliance.
- Strong experience in global sanctions compliance preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel advanced, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical (quantitative & qualitative) skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Spanish) are a plus.
- Experience working with cross-functional and global stakeholders.
