Director of Student Wellbeing and Residential Life
Santa Ana, San José,Costa Rica
General Objective
Lead the planning, coordination, and supervision of services, programs, and initiatives in Student Wellbeing and Residential Life, ensuring the comprehensive well-being of students from a safety and prevention approach.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Student Wellbeing and Residential Life
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise residential services and activities.
- Monitor student discipline and ensure adherence to the code of conduct.
- Ensure adequate staff coverage and timely response to emergencies during nights, weekends, holidays, and vacations.
- Approve internal and external student activities.
- Supervise wellness services and emotional support for students.
- Lead the implementation of student wellbeing programs such as Wellness, Residential Assistants Program, and Student Outings Program.
- Supervise and coordinate the continuous improvement of residential facilities.
- Act as a secondary safeguarding lead for students, reviewing policies and training staff.
- Coordinate with external providers for wellness and medical consultations.
Administrative
- Supervise and implement student life management platforms (REACH).
- Manage reports for newsletters and other documents.
- Handle administrative matters for staff, including expense reports, vacations, and external services.
- Develop, update, and implement the annual work plan, policies, and protocols.
- Administer outsourced health services and supervise corresponding payments.
Academic Life
- Coordinate with the Academic Director on student wellbeing and academic performance.
- Lead meetings to provide comprehensive support for students with emotional needs impacting academics.
Requirements
- Education: University degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, or Education. A Master’s degree in Education or Educational Psychology is preferred.
- Experience:
- 5+ years in end-user positions in non-profit or educational institutions.

- 3+ years leading multidisciplinary teams. (essential requirement)
- 2+ years working with adolescents (essential requirement)
- Languages:
- Advanced English B2+ / C1 and Spanish fluent (essential requirement)
- Skills:
- Advanced MS Office and Google Suite knowledge.
- Experience in conflict resolution, risk management, adolescent psychology, and crisis management.
- Leadership, communication, strategic thinking, and collaboration.
- Competencies:
- Leadership, communication skills, collaboration, ability to work under pressure, budget management, and reporting.
Working Conditions
Working Conditions:
This is a position of trust, so the person must be willing to adjust their schedule as required, including attending or performing tasks on weekends.
Workplace: 100% On-site.
It is required that the person lives on the residential campus, currently located in Santa Ana and later in San Isidro de Heredia.
Travel: Available for travel as needed.
