YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO LOOK FOR A JOB!
February 5Personal brand for soccer players: 6 tactics to stand out
June 18, 2018Very possibly LinkedIn is not the most popular of the "social networks" at the moment, but it can be affirmed that it is the most exclusive way in which professionals, from various sectors, are in constant communication today.
In order to make themselves known professionally, take a leap in quality to a new job or to another country, or manage to develop a broader network of contacts, LinkedIn has been created for this.
Today, more than 500 million professionals around the world enjoy a great showcase, where the company recruiters, recruiting firms, companies of all sizes and consulting firms seek the most suitable professionals to complete their payrolls and according to their business strategies.
So, because we still find highly qualified professionals without a trace in this network. Perhaps one of the main reasons is the lack of knowledge about the strengths of LinkedIn.
We give below some more important reasons or justifications to be part of LinkedIn:
Professional network
Today the frontiers of knowledge are less visible. Being part of a network of professionals connected around topics of common interest is a constant.
Who does not have a strong network of contacts will have difficulties when looking for other opportunities, be it in their country or internationally. The pace of change in companies today is more dizzying than a few years ago.
Having acquaintances or contacts in different industries and companies becomes a professional need. Being aware of events in our branch of interest, sharing what we do very well and making ourselves known to the professional world today, in addition to being a necessity, is almost a work obligation.
Using LinkedIn provides countless opportunities if used strategically.
Job offer online
On LinkedIn you can follow your favorite companies to work for, you can read from experts in different industries on current and relevant topics.
It is a network where professionals can offer their services, whether they are independent professions or consolidated executives in their respective fields.
Being in this “showcase” provides the possibility of getting a job far beyond the borders of your own country.
The professional is given the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and work achievements. He will be able to publicize his special knowledge and skills to be considered in recruitment processes from virtually anywhere in the world.
You will be able to be part of groups of your interest, participate in debates and give your opinions with professionals from all over the world.
Empleo's opportunities
In a more expeditious way than in the past, LinkedIn allows you to be a call or email away from the company that wishes to have your services.
Today, all multinational companies have a specialized LinkedIn platform where, in addition to making themselves known, expanding their markets beyond their own borders, they can announce their talent needs in the market.
This network is selective and by invitation only, both for you to approach the companies of your interest, and to allow others to be part of your network. Like any other social platform, you must be aware of the proper use and professional labels for its proper performance.
Today, companies of all sizes and origins post their vacancies on this network. Very different from virtual job portals where only resumes are requested or displayed, on LinkedIn you will be able to meet the person you are talking to, since it is an almost essential requirement, the professional's photo.
In October 2008 LinkedIn had only 25 million users in 150 different industries in more than 200 countries; today the network consists of more than 500 million worldwide with strong growth in the last two years.
In Costa Rica we are the country with the most users in our region, followed by Panama, and more and more companies and professionals are opening their own profiles to be aware of what is happening in the market, participate intelligently in their sector, and achieve greater visibility.
Some Linkedin numbers:
- 500 millions of users.
- 42% update their profile regularly.
- 27% of users access via mobile.
- 50% of users have a bachelor's or postgraduate degree.
- 81% of users are members of at least one group.
