Provide primary and secondary nursing care services to the student community in order to promote health, prevent illness, and reduce its impact—ensuring the students’ overall wellbeing.

Medical Care and Support

• Provide comprehensive medical care to students through scheduled and on-demand consultations.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary health professionals to support students with chronic conditions and complex medical needs.

• Ensure follow-up and communication regarding hospitalized students, including emotional support and academic reintegration.

• Accompany students to hospital transfers and medical appointments when necessary.

• Implement preventive health education and personalized guidance during medical consultations.

• Assist students in emotional crises in coordination with the wellbeing team.

• Manage and coordinate special diets for students with medical nutritional needs.

Teamwork and Communication

• Maintain effective communication with residential staff, academic personnel, and the medical team to ensure holistic student support.

• Attend regular meetings with the medical and residential team to evaluate and manage complex cases.

• Collaborate with night and weekend paramedics for continued care.

Admissions and Student Onboarding

• Review medical forms, lab results, and vaccination records as part of the admissions process.

• Maintain ongoing communication with students, families, and National Committees to ensure timely compliance with health requirements.

• Coordinate and review medical contracts for students with pre-existing conditions or special health needs.

• Create and manage a student health database to track critical information including medical history, allergies, medications, and immunizations.

Administrative Management

• Schedule medical consultations with the school physician and external specialists.

• Track and update student medical records in Blackbaud and other platforms.

• Prepare medical reports and follow-up documentation as needed.

• Coordinate insurance claims, pre-authorizations, and communicate exclusions or limitations.

• Ensure first aid kits are fully stocked and distributed across residences and weekend shift areas.

• Support inventory management and purchasing of medical supplies.

• Manage petty cash for medical-related expenses and communicate technical issues to the appropriate supervisor.

Requirements

• Education: Licenciatura in Nursing; registered with the Costa Rican Board of Nurses with an active nursing license.

• Experience: Minimum 3 years in direct patient care; experience working with adolescents is desirable.

• Languages: Advanced proficiency in Spanish and English.

• Knowledge and Skills:
