CAS Facilitator
Santa Ana, San José
The CAS Facilitator is responsible for designing, organizing, executing, assessing, and following up on educational activities framed within the International Baccalaureate (IB) CAS Program, supporting initiatives from the Co-Curricular Program, and enhancing students’ experiences beyond the classroom. The Facilitator ensures all activities align with UWC Costa Rica’s mission, values, and educational model, fostering students’ personal and collective growth through creativity, activity, and service.
Key Responsibilities

Design and Execution:

Plan and implement educational activities framed within the IB CAS Program and Co-Curricular Program objectives.

Foster student reflection and self-assessment to enhance learning outcomes and personal development.

Program Monitoring and Support:
-
Monitor the implementation of CAS activities and ensure timely and accurate documentation for IB assessment.

Organize CAS meetings, workshops, and orientations for students and staff to guide them on CAS requirements and benefits.

Administrative and Operational Coordination:

Coordinate logistics, budgets, and administrative tasks related to activities and events.

Develop and maintain tracking systems, reports, and activity documentation.

Ensure all activities comply with the college’s safety, security, and sustainability guidelines.

Community Engagement:

Build relationships with NGOs, community groups, local businesses, and external facilitators.

Identify and facilitate collaboration opportunities within the Costa Rican social context.

Program Development:

Support the Co-Curricular Director with annual program planning, budgeting, and reporting.

Actively participate in initiatives like “Bald for a Cause” and other thematic weeks.

Requirements
-
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Non-Formal Education, Social Sciences, Eco-tourism, or a related field. -
Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with adolescents in facilitation, service learning, experiential education, or project-based learning contexts.

Strong knowledge of the IB CAS component philosophy, objectives, and assessment requirements.

Experience working in international boarding school environments is preferred, ideally IB and/or UWC contexts.

Languages:
Advanced proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken). -
Technical Skills:
-
Project management and coordination.
-
Curriculum development.
-
Budget management and reporting.
-
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Canva, Monday.com, and Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of Costa Rican social context and identification of collaboration opportunities.
Work Conditions
-
Work Schedule:
Tuesday to Saturday 9 am – 7 pm (with flexibility required; one Monday per month for community meetings, exchanged for a Saturday). -
Workplace:
On-site in Santa Ana and San Isidro, Costa Rica. -
Travel:
Occasional travel within Costa Rica, if needed.
