Mid QA Automation Engineer

Overview:
This role is responsible for enhancing and ensuring the quality of our client solutions and services by collaborating with the business to validate that the software under test meets predefined acceptance criteria. This involves designing, writing, and executing both manual and automated tests in a complex integrated environment to ensure product readiness for release, while also contributing to QA engineering and testing best practices.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement automated test scripts for web, mobile, and desktop applications using industry-standard automation tools and frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, identify test scenarios, and establish automation strategies.
Design, maintain, and improve test automation frameworks for web and mobile to ensure scalability, reliability, and reusability across projects.
Create web service test cases and conduct testing on REST APIs.
Execute automated test suites, analyze results, and report defects to maintain software quality and reliability.
Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups to offer insights on testability, automation feasibility, and overall QA processes.
Continuously evaluate and integrate new automation tools, technologies, and best practices to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Work closely with developers to troubleshoot issues, replicate defects, and expedite resolution of quality-related matters.
Collaborate with QA Engineers to identify automation opportunities, prioritize test cases, and balance efforts between automated and manual testing.
Document test procedures, test cases, and automation scripts for knowledge sharing and reproducibility of test scenarios.
Support production deployments and perform essential manual and automated smoke testing.
Ensure adherence to PetSmart standards in automated test code and contribute to the automation strategy and optimization efforts.
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, analytical abilities, and troubleshooting skills.
Required on-site attendance three times per month.

Must Have:

Proficiency in TDD, BDD, and TestNG concepts.
Knowledge of RESTful web service APIs.
Expertise in automating web and mobile applications across various devices and platforms using test automation tools and frameworks.
Familiarity with automation tools/frameworks such as JMeter, Selenium, Appium, Git, Tosca, Postman.
Experience with device testing using real devices and simulators like BrowserStack.
Understanding of Agile methodologies, including SAFE Agile.
Proficiency in test management tools such as QTest, HP ALM suite.
Experience with at least one programming language for automation, preferably Java.
Familiarity with Selenium, Java, Jenkins, GitHub, and experience in mobile testing and DevOps.

Nice to Have:

Experience with continuous integration tools like Cloudbees (Jenkins).
Knowledge of automating mobile applications using Appium and TestNG frameworks.
Experience in code analysis/review, including reviewing QA automation code.
Familiarity with APIs and web application performance testing.
Familiarity with languages like Python, Groovy.

Qualifications:

Over 3 years of experience writing test code in multiple languages (Java, Python).
Expertise in automating web and mobile applications across multiple devices and platforms using test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, TestNG, and JUnit/NUnit.
Strong understanding of software testing practices and Agile development.
Ability to work independently with minimal direction and a strong work ethic.
Effective communication skills, teamwork, and positive enthusiasm.
